If I Could Fly

If I could fly:

If I could fly I’d stop using you as measuring tape to determine if I’m good enough.

If I could fly I’d soar high above my insecurities, give myself a new name and pretend to forget all that is below me.

If I could fly tomorrow would never come, and it would always be morning.

If I could fly I would exist among infinite sun rises that never turn to sun sets.

If I could fly you’d never worry about seeing me again.

If I could fly solitude would be my only friend.

This must be why God didn’t give me wings…
