“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” -Proverbs 4:23
Happy Self-Love Sunday everyone.
If the week you’re stepping out of left much to be desired, I hope the week ahead fulfills all your needs and if it does not, I hope you are present and grateful anyways.
My absence from this platform has been with the full intention of guarding my heart.
I knew that if my cup was empty, I wouldn’t be able to pour into anyone else.
I’m using these figures of speech to describe the fact that I was dealing with a lot of emotions and a heaviness that I couldn’t escape due to external factors.
There has been a lot going on outside of the four walls of my sacred space that I had a very difficult time coping with.
In Friday’s post https://brianasymone.com/2020/07/17/ive-been-coping/ I shared the new habits I’ve added to my days to help me stay grounded.
The last few weeks haven’t been easy for me but they’ve definitely been eye-opening and beneficial.
I needed time to process, feel and heal which brings me to the purpose of today’s post.
Today, I encourage you to guard your heart.
It is completely healthy and normal to not always feel your best.
Life is full of seasons and each season serves its purpose.
Some seasons are difficult, some are far less difficult, nonetheless, lessons can be taken from each season and these lessons are beneficial.
Proverbs 4:23 points to the importance of guarding your heart.
We don’t always have control over external factors, however, we do have control over what we allow into our heart space.
Be aware, prioritize peace and put yourself first.
Below are a few ways to do those three things.
Be aware:
-Don’t be afraid to check in with yourself
-How are you mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually etc.?
-I like to meditate daily to check in with myself
Prioritize peace:
-If there are spaces (relationships or physical spaces you frequent) in your life where you don’t feel valued and you aren’t able to prioritize peace I admonish you to reevaluate you desire to spend time there
Put yourself first
-As self explanatory as this may seem, sometimes its rather difficult to walk away from people, places and experiences that hold sentimental value to us. At times we may prioritize other things over our own well being. This is a reminder that today, tomorrow and every day for the rest of your life, you deserve love, affection and praise especially from yourself.
Sometimes its easier said than done.
Sometimes the addition of new habits is all it takes.
Sometimes time is all it takes.
Sometimes its a heavy and long journey.
When you are not at peace within yourself, this imbalance spills over into other areas of your life.
Today, I just want you to know that your heart is yours and only yours to guard.
Be intentional about ensuring its safety.
Happy Self-Love Sunday!
